“Give a man a fish and he
won’t go hungry for a day; teach him how to
fish and he won’t go hungry forever.”
Overused as it may seem, this adage is the
bedrock of the mission-vision of Calayan
Educational Foundation, Inc. (CEFI).
Thirty-five years after its birth, CEFI has
lived up to this undertaking.
CEFI’s place in the universe of Philippine
education however did not happen overnight.
It is a consequence of supreme sacrifice
born of dire circumstances which would have
lead any other school like itself to
oblivion. The people who ran the school
during those times became bastions of
courage, persistence and hope. Seeing this,
the Lord Almighty smiled and gave CEFI a new
lease of life.
With its present achievements and more plans
for the future, CEFI stands a proud new
member of the Philippine Association of
Colleges and Universities (PACU) without
passing on the financial burden to its
students. A host of new courses in the
offing, including Hotel and Restaurant
Management, signals CEFI’s initiative to
someday become a university thus alleviating
enough the dearth of quality education in
Quezon Province.
As CEFI President, it behooves me to uphold
the tradition of excellence the school is
known for while keeping affordable the cost
of education. With these ideals, CEFI shall
succeed yet again with the patronage of
parents who wish nothing but the best
education for their children and generations
to come.
