CEFI Swimmers Win in the Singapore Swim Meet

The sweet smiles of victory in the faces of CEFI Swim Team (from left to right) – Azores, Lotino, Paderes and Lobos.

Fresh from their victory in the invitational swim meet held in Rizal last July, four students of Calayan Educational Foundation Inc.  Basic Education Department reaped a total of 11 medals in the 12th Singapore Island Country Club International Swimming Championship, Aug 6 & 7.


They are Grade 7 students Jordan Ken T. Lobos (4 gold, 3 silver) and Lance Arcel A. Lotino (1 bronze), John Neil B. Paderes, Grade 8 (2 bronze), and sixth grader Kathrine Jonell Azores (1 bronze).

Lobos won 1st place in the 50-m breast stroke, 100-m breast stroke, 200-m individual medley, and 4x50 medley relay. He also copped the 2nd place in the 100-m freestyle, 100-m butterfly and 200-m freestyle categories. 

8th grader Paderes placed 3rd in the 50-m and 100-m backstroke categories.

Lotino took 3rd in the 4x50 medley relay (boys’ division) with Azores scoring the same in the girls’ division.

They competed with student swimmers from Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.

The students are members of the Quezon Killer Whales Swimming Team under the supervision of Coach Virgilio De Luna. CEFI elementary teacher Mrs. Joan Azores served as their adviser.
