CDC wins in international dance competitions

That these dancers are CEFI’s “Cultural Ambassadors of Goodwill” is no lip service.

The Calayan Dance Company (CDC) established itself as THE cultural phenomenon in the school with its back-to-back wins in international dance sport competitions in South Korea and China.
Representing the Philippines, CDC took the Open American Latin gold in the Sun City International Dance Sport Championship 2009, held Nov. 15 at Gwang Ju City, South Korea.
The team bested participants from Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Japan, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Italy and Russia.

They also won 3rd place in Asian Close Rising Star Latin, 5th place in Latin Open American, 6th place in Asian Close American Latin, 6th place in Standard Open American, and 6th place in Asia Close Standard.

Earlier, on July 3, the pair of Jonaz Rogel P. Evora and Sharmaine Marie L. Regio waltzed their way to win first place in Open Amateur Ballroom/Standard during the 1st Shijiazuang Dance Sport Championship held at Shijiazuang City, People’s Republic of China.
Regio, with a professional partner, got fourth place in the Professional-Amateur Latin. It was another Regio, Rouselle May who clinched the gold in that category.
Ms. Maria Donna Dizon-Cosejo, an international dance competition adjudicator is the team’s coach.
